UNITED KINGDOM PERMIT EXCHANGES NEWS
British citizens with residence in Spain have 2 months more of validity in their British driving licenses. New Residents still have 6 months to convert their ones.

This is the Updated information of the information sent on March 16, 2023, in relation to the exchange of driving licenses issued by the United Kingdom authorities and who currently reside in Spain.

  • Application completed on an official form
  • Declaration that the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds is not deprived by judicial decision and that they do not hold another EU or EEA license of the same class as the one requested or that has been been restricted, suspended or annulled.
  • Identity accreditation: Original ID or valid passport or residence card (foreigner identity card).
    Original UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND driving license in force or expired if the validity date is after the date of entry into our country.
  • Psychophysical aptitude report, issued by an authorized Driver Recognition Center.
  • ID Photograph
  • Permit verification code: The interested party must access the following web pages to obtain the verification code (check code) of their British permit. This code must be communicated to headquarters so that its validity can be verified. If the permit has been issued by:

We remind you that driving licenses obtained after the acquisition of legal residence in Spain will not be exchanged.
This agreement will not apply to permits issued in the UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND by exchange of other permits obtained in a third State that does not belong to the European Union, the European Economic Area or with which Spain has not subscribed. a bilateral exchange agreement.
